Despite the plea by the family to be allowed to mourn the death of maverick political actor, Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe, several Nigerians have trooped to social media to give their comments about the deceased, with many saying bad things about him.

Nzeribe died on May 5, 2022 but his death was announced by the family on May 8.

Senator Nzeribe was known for the various negative roles he played in the polity with the climax being the divisive role he played in instigating the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, considered the freest and fairest election in Nigeria’s post independence history.

Nzeribe died after suffering from an undisclosed illness.

In reaction to his death, some Nigerians took to social media to reminisce on his active service in Nigerian politics, with very few having positive things to say about the late Nzeribe.

Here are some reactions gathered by GreenWhiteGreen

@ShehuSani Chief Arthur Nzeribe; young people may not know who he was;by the time they came of age,he had retreated to a private life.He was an unforgettable factor in our nation’s history. A controversial maverick & a man you shouldn’t bring close nor keep him afar. May his soul rest in peace

@particular6 On Francis Arthur Nzeribe’s death!!! You need to see what people are writing about him for his role in the June 12 saga. Be good while you are here and remember that actions have far-reaching consequences.

@Onyewechris10 I doubt I have any good thing to say about Arthur Nzeribe

@bolajiayo Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe is dead @ 83! History will remember him as one of the people military used to perpetuate themselves in power! Good night

@fopara03 Damanze, the late Chief Arthur Nzeribe will be remembered more for his shenanigans during the June 12 saga than all the years he spent in the red chambers as a Senator representing Orlu Zone.
