Buhari Hails Ekweremadu On Confidence Enjoyed From Enugu Citizens
President Muhammadu Buhari has commended former Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu on the confidence his people in Enugu have on him, saying that it should be the reason for his staying power in public office.
Buhari gave the commendation in a solidarity message to the senator on the occasion of his 60th birthday on May 12, 2022.
In a congratulatory message issued by his media aide, Mr Femi Adesina, on Wednesday in Abuja, the President rejoiced with the lawmaker, his family, friends and associates on the landmark celebration.
He saluted Ekweremadu’s contributions to the legislature, where he had served since 2003.
According to him, Ekweremadu has made salutary impact on constitutional and electoral reforms in the country, as well as serving as Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, where he successfully spearheaded the enhancement of the powers of the regional parliament.
Noting the public record service of the senator in Enugu, President Buhari lauded ”Ekweremadu’s staying power, which must be an expression of the confidence his people have in him”
He equally commended the public service trajectory of Ekweremadu, which had seen him serve as Chief of Staff to an Enugu State Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Senator, Deputy Senate President, and Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament.
The president wished the lawmaker good health, sound mind, and further service to God and humanity. (NAN)
