Delta PDP Primaries: How Okowa’s Daughter Won, Uduaghan’s Lost
In a major development in the unfolding political game by the outgoing political leaders of Delta State to pre-position their children, the daughter of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP State constituency primary while the daughter of his predecessor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan lost.
GWGNG reports that Barr Marilyn Okowa-Daramola was returned unopposed to represent the Ika North East State constituency where her father started politics as a local government chairman in the late eighties.
However, a similar move by Uduaghan’s daughter, Miss Orode Uduaghan to unseat the incumbent member of the State House of Assembly, representing Warri North State Constituency, Hon Fred Martins failed. She polled seven votes to the 25 votes polled by the incumbent.
GWGNG gathered that four years ago when Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan made a move to represent the Delta South Senate Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, that Mr Fred Martins was one of the main pillars used by the PDP to outwit Uduaghan.
It was further gathered that at the onset of the present race that Governor Okowa passed a message to his predecessor on the need to allow Martins go for a second term and that the daughter should choose another constituency to vie for, but apparently the message did not go through.
Whatever, the development is set to provoke further animosity in the quarrel between both men that was triggered by their conflict of interests in 2015.
Erithake Ibori, the daughter of another political godfather, Chief James Ibori is also set to slug it out in the Ethiope Federal Constituency Election due on Monday.
Besides the news of the loss by the daughter of former Governor Uduaghan, and the victory of that of Dr Okowa, other winners in the Delta PDP primaries include:
