Abuja-Kaduna Train Abductee Wins Reps Ticket From Captivity
Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, the son of the convener of Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Ango Abdullahi, who is one of the scores of those captured by terrorists who derailed the Abuja – Kaduna train on March 28, 2022 has won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ticket for the Sabon Gari federal constituency.
Daily Trust reports that Sadiq Ango Abdullahi is one of the 61 persons still in captivity after bandits attacked and abducted passengers of train AK-9 from Abuja to Kaduna on March 28th 2022.
Though several publications had reported that the bandits have released Sadiq but Daily Trust gathered from his father, Ango Abdullahi that Sadiq is yet to be released. Ango Abdullahi, a former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, said he prays and hopes that his son will be released soon.
However, at the end of the PDP primaries, the Sadiq won with 28 votes to defeat other aspirants such as Hadiza Muhammad, Salisu Abdulhamid and Misis Paulina.
Meanwhile, besides the news of the Abuja-Kaduna train abductee who won the PDP reps ticket from captivity, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, former Gombe State Governor, on Monday picked the Gombe North Senate ticket of the PDP to contest the 2023 election.
GWGNG reports that Dankwambo is a major ally of Governor Nyesom Wike in his bid for the PDP presidential ticket and his victory in the senatorial quest is bound to quieten mutterings over the electoral relevance of the former governor who had been cast by some critics as irrelevant in the politics of the state.
Malam Habu Zarma, who is the Returning Officer, said Dankwambo picked the ticket following the withdrawal of the other two contestants, Bayero Nafada, former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and Hamma Saleh, a businessman.
