Controversy Over Stella Oduah’s NYSC Saga Deepens, As PDP Rival, Nwoye Withdraws From Senate Race
The controversy over the alleged abandonment of the NYSC scheme by Senator Stella Oduah deepened on Thursday after her bid for a third term in the Senate took a twist after her main rival, Dr Tony Nwoye withdrew from the contest.
Nwoye, a former governorship candidate in the state withdrew from the process alongside three other associates who were also seeking the party’s ticket to the House of Representatives in their respective constituencies.
Nwoye who was an aspirant for the party’s Anambra North Senate ticket withdrew from the PDP primaries alongside three other aspirants who were in the race for the PDP ticket in their respective constituencies.
The three who withdrew were Dr Obiora Chira, Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Udeogalanya Peter, Idu Emeka
House of Representatives aspirant for Onitsha North/South Federal Constituency.
They accused the party leadership of trying to foist some party members on the party against the grain of the guidelines set by the commission.
Stella Oduah who has been battling allegations of skipping the NYSC scheme was not mentioned in the petition but GWGNG reports that she is believed to be facing a serious challenge to her mission by Nwoye, a medical doctor turned politician.
In the letter day May 25, she wrote:
Notice of Withdrawal from participation in Senate, House of Representatives PDP Primary election in Anambra North Senatorial District
We the undersigned being some aspirants for Senate and House of Representatives in Anambra North Senatorial District Anambra State hereby withdraw from participation in PDP primary elections in Anambra State scheduled for 26th may 2022 and also on 27th May 2022 on the following reasons:
- Under your watch PDP is purportedly conducting ward congress for election of 3 adhoc delegates this afternoon,25th May 2022 at Women Development Centre Awka instead of the 99 wards in the Anambra North zone, wihout any single party register, no quorum formed leading to disenfranchisement of thousands of PDP ward members. This violates Article 1(b)(iii) of PDP Guideline and Article 15(4) of PDP Constitution .
- A situation where up till 1 pm today,25th may,2022,the panel to conduct the said 3 ad–hoc delegates election has not being published, Party members came out yesterday,24th of may 2022,waited from morning till night, no ward congress took place and no communication to our teeming party members as to why the ward Congress did not hold on 24th May 2022 and why the ward congress of 25th May 2022 is not holding at 99 wards of Anambra North District DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO SECURITY CHALLANGE AT THE WARDS OF ANAMBRA NORTH SENATORIAL ZONE.
Everything concerning the primary process is shrouded in secrecy.
- Your leadership refused to issue 7 days notice to INEC for rescheduled 3 adhoc congresses so as to give undue advantage to your selected aspirants contrary to Article 1.2 of INEC Guideline .
- It is obvious that the Party under your watch is deliberately violating all these laid down procedures to enable your humble self and National Organising Secretary (Uma Bature) to handpick candidates for various positions in our Senatorial District.
- It is repugnant to equity, natural justice and fair play to allow your favoured Senatorial aspirants to nominate all the electoral panels and appeal panels who will keep original result sheets at Abuja and come to Anambra State with photocopies and no reprimand from your leadership against such ignoble practice till date.
- Tragedy has befallen PDP under your leadership to the extent that your favored Senatorial aspirants will appoint their cronies ,domestic staff as electoral panel committee and they will still not allow election to take place.
Sir, we humbly appeal to you to use your good offices to ensure that you communicate to appropriate organs of this our decision,so that no vote will be credited to any of us in Anambra purpoted PDP House of Representatives and Senate Primary scheduled for thurs 26th May, 2022 and Friday 27th May,2022 respectively Sir.
Please Sir, kindly be informed that our names should be removed as aspirants in the purported Party Primaries of 26th may, 2022 and 27th may,2022.
We wish you Luck.
Signed

Dr Obiora Chira
House of Representatives aspirant for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency
