Atiku Speaks At PDP Convention, Calls For Unity
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was the first of the presidential aspirants to speak as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP convention opened the floor for the hopefuls.
The aspirants were called in alphabetical order.
Atiku while applauding the organization of the convention said that it was the best organized in the history of the party.
GWGNG, however, reports that Atiku was not present in the conventions that led to the 2007 and 2015 presidential elections having at that time been a member of opposition political parties, Action Congress, AC in 2007 and then APC in 2015.
Noting that the organization should reflect in the voting, Atiku said:
“Let us hope and pray that the way that this convention has been organized will be the way that the voting will be organized.
This convention is unique it is the last in the era of the APC. It is unique that it is going to give our party the opportunity to take over the government at the federal level and in the states.
As an elder-statesman, Atiku used the opportunity to appeal for unity, at the convention, saying:
“I want to appeal for unity no matter the sabotage, the discrimination that may be meted out to you. The most important thing is to ensure that our party wins in the forthcoming election.
I am distressed that a number of our party officials have felt excluded in the processes that have taken place in many states of the country. I want to appeal to them to bear that no condition is permanent.”
