Shock As Bandits Raid Zurmi Town Zamfara, Abduct Many Residents

Unknown persons suspected to be bandits, on Thursday night went on a terror attack on Zurmi town, the administrative center of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State and kidnapped yet to be identified number of people.

A resident of the community, who pleaded that his name should not be mentioned, confirmed the incident.

He said that the bandits invaded the town in Zamfara at around 10:00 pm and started shooting sporadically, leading to the abduction of many residents of the area.

“Though they didn’t kill anybody, they abducted an unidentified number of people during the operation.

“Just three days ago, they killed one person and rustled cattle,” he said.

However, all efforts to get the reaction of the State’s police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu proved unsuccessful as he was not picking his phone calls.

Recall that Zamfara state Government had earlier hinted at shutting down telecommunication services in the state if kidnapping and killing of innocent citizens persist.

The State Government denied reports that it had already shut down telecommunication services but hinted at doing so again.
