Two weeks after unknown gunmen wrecked havoc on an Owo, Ondo State church, yet unidentified gunmen have also attacked two Kaduna churches killing a traditional ruler, and two others while an unknown number of others were kidnapped.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the bandits stormed the Maranatha Baptist Church and St. Moses Catholic Church in Rubu Village, Kajuru on Sunday.

The victims killed were Peter Madaki (Ward head of Ungwan Fada), Elisha Ezekiel, (a resident of Ungwan Fada) and Ali Zamani (Youth leader of Rubu).

While others were wounded an unidentified number of the villagers were also kidnapped by the gunmen.

“The bandits came on motorcycles and attacked our people shortly after closing from church service. The two communities attacked were inside Rubu village. The ward head of Anguwar Fada is among those killed,” a resident who simply identified himself as Maigari told Daily Trust.

He stated that other worshippers escaped through the nearby bush.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security, and Homes Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, giving details of the attack said the bandits started from Ungwan Fada and moved into Ungwan Turawa, before Ungwan Makama and then Rubu village.

Aruwan said, “On a sad note, security agencies have reported to the Kaduna State Government that bandits attacked worshippers and locals at Ungwan Fada, Ungwan Tarawa, and Ungwan Makama in Rubu general area of Kajuru local government area.

“Receiving the report, the Acting Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, expressed deep sadness and condemned the attack in the strongest terms. She sent her sincere condolences to the families of the deceased victims, as she prayed for the repose of their souls.”

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the attack on the Kaduna churches exactly two weeks from the attack on the St Francis Catholic Church, Owo Ondo State which left at least 40 persons dead. Those who died from that attack were only buried on Saturday, June 18, a day before the Kaduna church attack.
