Shock As Super Falcons Open WAFCON Defence With 2-1 Loss To Bayana Bayana
Fans were shocked as the Super Falcons of Nigeria opened their WAFCON 2022 with a 2-1 surprise loss to rivals Bayana Bayana of South Africa.
The African giants locked horns at the Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium on Monday, July 4, 2022, in Rabat, Morocco.
South Africa raced to a 2-goal lead in the Group C opener, courtesy of a quickfire double, but Atletico Madrid forward Rasheedat Ajibade pulled one back for the Falcons.
Following the loss, Nigerians trooped to social media to express their disappointment and shock at the result.
Fans criticised the team’s performance, calling out star players Asisat Oshoala and Rasheedat Ajibade for dropping sub-par displays, while others called out coach Randy Waldrum for failing to improve and make his mark on the Falcons.

@iambolar To be honest, the Super Falcons are no longer what they used to be. Other African teams have seriously closed the gap. #NGARSA#WAFCON2022
@iamzeezaga The problem is the super falcons over-reliance on the strikers speed, they have failed to use the midfield, rather they continued loading the long balls which won’t help in any way
