Popular Nigerian Preacher, Ibiyeomie Counters Creflo Dollar On Tithe

Popular Nigerian preacher, Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries has rebuffed American preacher Creflo Dollar on his denunciation of the prosperity gospel and specifically on the Old Testament prescription on the payment of tithes, vowing that he would continue to pay tithes until he dies.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Creflo Dollar, unarguably one of the world’s leading proponents of the prosperity gospel had come out in a Sunday message to denounce it asking his flock to throw away all messages he preached on tithing among others on the prosperity gospel.

Specifically renouncing the payment of tithes as enjoined in the Old Testament, he said it was a covenant laid before the fountain of grace that is in Christ Jesus.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Creflo Dollar had in 2015 been the buzz of criticisms when he did a $65 million fund raiser for a private jet.

Turning back in his message he further said that he had recently come into the meaning of grace as espoused in Romans 6 and hence the disavowal of preaching on tithe which he said builds on fear and guilt as against Romans 6: 14: “For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under the grace.”

However, responding to Creflo Dollar on Monday, Pastor David Ibiyeomie said that a pastor condemning tithe has never really known the bible.

He said “They quote Bible upside down, that’s why you have to be a Bible student, even a pastor can deceive you, please read Bible for yourself.

“So that somebody cannot preach something up-side down and you believe. All manner of things are everywhere, some people preach tithe and they said no more tithe because they did not have solid foundation in the Bible and some of you believe it.

“What’s my business, didn’t I read my Bible? Follow anything you like, you too, read Bible for yourself, let nobody deceive you.

Pastor David Ibiyeomie  without mentioning Creflo Dollar by name on the issue of tithe, continued: “Can somebody now tell me not to pay tithes? I will be foolish, I’ve read Bible for myself so nobody can preach to me, I saw it from the Bible so nobody can tell me not to pay tithes.

“I don’t need you to preach to me, I will pay tithes till I die.

“I’ve read it from the Bible, if another said grace made it, let him stay there. You can turn the Bible upside down, please don’t follow all manner of doctrines. Read Bible, God gave it to you. Pastors can go astray. I learnt all manner of gospel are in town. Any man can change any day.”
