Dreaded terror sect, Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) have claimed responsibility for the dastardly attack on the Kuje Medium Correctional Center on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Recall that GWG GreenWhiteGreen earlier reported that the terrorists attacked the center and freed inmates including 64 of their members held in the custody during the attack.

Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd) had earlier fingered Boko Haram for the attack when he inspected the site on Wednesday morning.

“I think everything is under control. The people who came to do this activity, from the records, we believe they belong to a particular group. Most likely, they are Boko Haram members because we have sizeable number of Boko Haram suspects in detention, and presently we cannot locate any of them.

“I think they are about 64 in the prison and none of them now is available they have all escaped,” he said.

ISWAP further cleared any doubts about their participation in the raid following the release of a video depicting the shocking event by the Islamic State’s A’maq Agency on Wednesday.

The video which was captioned “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners,” showed the terrorists shouting Allahu Akbar as the operation was underway.

Following the attack, 879 inmates escaped, while 4 inmates and an officer of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) lost their lives according to a statement by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
