Moses Armstrong: Court Transfers Alleged Rape Case To High Court

The suit prosecuting Nollywood actor, Moses Armstrong who was accused of abducting and defiling a 16-year-old girl has reportedly been struck out by a Magistrate court in Akwa Ibom.

The judge, Moreen Udoka, struck out the suit following the submission by the prosecutor, A. Nyongessien, an assistant state counsel, that the case has been filed at the State High Court.

Recall that reports surfaced on social media that the teenage girl was abducted by Mr Armstrong and was living with the actor’s family in Akwa Ibom.

The actor was apprehended by men of the Nigerian Police Force, in Akwa Ibom State following allegations of raping a 16-year-old minor.

The actor was further suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria after reports of Moses arrest surfaced. The suspension was announced by the AGN director of communications and actress, Monalisa Chinda in a statement.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered  that this is the second time the suit had been struck out.

The first Judge, Samuel Ukoima, whose court Mr Armstrong was first arraigned on June 17, had struck out the prosecution’s remand application with claims that it was not properly filed. Ukoima ordered that the actor should be rearrested after the case had been properly filed.

The actor had been remanded for 21 days in a correctional facility to enable the prosecution to file a case at the high court after the lower court struck out the case based on jurisdiction.

However further hearing on the case would now proceed at the State High Court.
