Insecurity: Tension In Abuja As Soldiers Take Over Checkpoints To Track Fleeing Terrorists

Tension has engulfed residents of the FCT following the presence of security agents in sensitive areas of the federal capital on Thursday night.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that soldiers took charge of various security checkpoints in and around the nation’s capital city in an attempt to track fleeing terrorists.

Recall that few days ago, some soldiers from the 102 Guards Battalion were attacked while on the way from Bwari, within the FCT. The development raised concerns among citizens.

It was gathered on Thursday night that soldiers from the Guards Brigade, Army Headquarters Garrison, Defence Headquarters Garrison, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force and troops from army operations have taken over the security architecture of Abuja.

The tight security presence it was learnt was aimed at countering any attack by terrorists who may have marked some locations as targets for attack.

All the entry and exit areas into the FCT were said to have taken over by the soldiers who are conducting stop and search operations to track escaping terrorists.

It was reported that the operations which may have begun to yield positive results with the arrest of some persons suspected to be terrorists and informants.

It was also gathered that all known criminals hotspots in the FCT, are being raided.
