Tinubu Campaign moves to take the narrative on Buhari's legacy from the media and critics

The Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu campaign has opened up on how it would deal with issues concerning the legacy of the Muhammadu Buhari era if the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate wins the forthcoming presidential election.

The campaign has a three prong mechanism to deal with excellent achievements, moderate achievements and failures it tagged as challenges.

Campaign spokesman, Festus Keyamo in a series of tweets late on Saturday said the mechanism was conceived as a way of dealing with those he described as purveyors of fake headlines.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the reaction of the campaign followed a report by an online news journal (Not GreenWhiteGreen GWG) which reported that Tinubu would run Nigeria exactly as Buhari.

Keyamo in the tweet said that a Tinubu administration would continue and seek to build upon those he claimed as the successes of the Buhari administration. He listed the sectors where Buhari has done well as “infrastructure, rail, agriculture, etc. Our @officialABAT will continue with those revolutionary strides but also seek to improve on them.”

The Tinubu campaign said it would consolidate on the moderate achievements. Keyamo listed those areas as “areas of security challenges that have improved significantly, e.g farmers-herders’ clashes, North-East insurgency, etc.

He said that Tinubu will “review these situations & employ additional strategies to maintain the momentum & consolidate the gains achieved in these areas.”

On the failures of the Buhari legacy which the Tinubu campaign tagged as challenges, the campaign said that it would employ new tactics and tools.

He said: “As for new areas of security challenges, e.g banditry and kidnappings in the N/West,

@officialABAT is prepared to employ additional tools and tactics to compliment the present work in progress in order to totally eradicate them if Nigerians graciously give him their mandate.”

The campaign was, however, mum on broader issues of the economy under the Buhari regime as measured by the value of the naira, unemployment, industrial output and such. The value of the naira in the parallel market has sunk under the Buhari administration from less than N200 to about N660.
