Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN

Erstwhile Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN has charged the Nigerian Christian community to present its set of demands to the All Progressives Congress, APC in the light of the Muslim-Muslim ticket put forward by the party.

While describing the Muslim-Muslim ticket as sensitive, the former Senate leader and chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, nevertheless expressed hope that the APC would win the presidential election.

He also expressed confidence in the ability of the APC to also win the Cross River State governorship election saying that the 2023 election would be the first time that the matter of the state being a PDP state would be seriously contested.

Senator Ndoma-Egba spoke in an interview following investiture as a papal knight of Saint Sylvester in the Catholic Church.

Muslim-Muslim Ticket Is Emotive For Christians – Ndoma-Egba

While noting that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has the pedigree and record to take Nigeria to the next level, Ndoma-Egba, however, called for a dialogue between the party’s flag bearer and the Christian community to address issues emanating from the Muslim-Muslim ticket flown by the party.

“It is a very emotive issue. I wish the APC had options open to it. As it is now the Christian community should present its charter of demand to the party,” he said.

While admitting the displeasure of many over the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Ndoma-Egba nevertheless expressed confidence of the APC winning.

“Not everyone is happy but APC will win nevertheless. The emotions are not any better for the APC. It will only work against APC in the event that both APC and PDP are rejected by the electorate.”

On the prospects of Senator Bassey Otu in the Cross River governorship contest, Senator Ndoma Egba said:

“He is the best we can put forward now. Our geopolitics is in his favour, he has grassroot appeal and is rooted in the politics of the state. He is knowledgeable especially in economic matters and exposed.”

On how the APC can win in a state regarded as a PDP state, he said:

“The notion that Cross River State is a PDP State will come under its very first severe test in 2023. From 1999 the Government in the State has been PDP. For once it is not and the PDP in the State is not used to being out of power. It will be a fish out of water.”
