Inibehe filed the suit at the Federal High Court in Uyo, where he appealed for an injunction compelling Justice Obot to furnish him with a copy of the 27 July judgment.

Effiong further urged the court to declare the judge’s refusal to release the conviction order as illegal and unconstitutional, noting that it violated Section 36 (7) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

A court document from the counsel to the plaintiff, Femi Falana, stressed that Effiong was entitled to a copy of the judgment within seven days of the conclusion of the case.

GWG recalls that the human right lawyer has been remanded in prison since July 27, by Justice Obot.

Inibehe served the first two weeks of his 30 days sentence at the Ikot Ekpene Custodial Center of the Nigeria Correctional Service and later transferred to Uyo Custodial Centre, Akwa Ibom State, to serve the remaining days.
