How Atiku Outshined Rivals At NBA Conference
By Mobuogwu O. Victor
At the ongoing Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, the first plenary section moderated by Dr. Olisa Agbokoba, SAN had the PDP presidential candidate – Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the APC candidate represented by his vice presidential candidate – Kashim Shetima, the Labour Party Presidential candidate – Peter Obi were in attendance. Rabiu Kwankwaso though listed as one of the speakers was absent.
The questions before the speakers were centred on democratic transition in 21st Century Nigeria: 2023 and Beyond. No doubt the topic was not only topical but relevant and timely as Nigerian is bedeviled with so many challenges ranging from insecurity to failing economy. Nigeria is also preparing for the general election early next year.
Therefore, no better opportunity could have been available than this platform for any candidate to sell his and his party’s manifesto to over 38000 legal practitioners in Nigeria and by extension to all Nigerians. This opportunity was optimally seized by Mr. ATIKU as he emerged the man of the day due to his confidence, well thought-out plan and programme for Nigeria and the explicit display of his vast experience both from the private and public sectors. His soundness, capacity and experience played out crystal clear all through the session. According to some delegates his speech was presidential and most convincing as he did not only showcase his clear understanding of the challenges confronting Nigeria, he also explained clearly his plan on how to tackle the problems when elected. According to Atiku, addressing the challenges in Nigeria must start with addressing the insecurity and disunity in Nigeria. This according to him will be followed by drastic economic development via diversification of the economy and attraction of both foreign and local investors by creating a conducive investment environment in Nigeria.
He reminded all that he understands how to turn on the economy. No one should forget in a hurry his contribution in the telecommunication sector and most of his economic plans are what the present government is wrongly applying because of their lack of understanding of the required strategies.
Indeed Atiku outshined other candidates during the first plenary session of the 2022 Annual Conference of NBA.
