Recall that ASUU commenced a nationwide industrial action on February 14 and has refused to end the strike due to the failure of the Federal Government to attend to its demands.
There have been speculations that the federal government might proscribe the union following its stand not to call off the strike.
Students and parents are expectant a positive report from the ASUU NEC meeting, after several calls for lecturers to resume from the strike.
Ahead of the NEC meeting, there had been reports that various ASUU branches held their congresses last week with the majority voting for another rollover of an indefinite strike.
The major demands of the lecturers are the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement and the replacement of IPPIS with UTAS.
Meanwhile, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Allied Institutions (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) have suspended their actions.
