Buhari Mobilises World Community To Tackle Flooding In Pakistan As Bagudu Urges Nigerians To Pray To Stop Insurgency

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended sympathies for the sea-like flooding of Pakistan, the worst natural disaster in the country’s history.

Meanwhile, Governor Atiku Bagudu has urged Nigerians to pray to stem the continued insurgency that has crippled activities in most of Northern Nigeria.

The plea by Buhari for world intervention into the flood in Pakistan was contained in a statement by the President’s spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, on Saturday in Abuja.

Floods have damaged half-a-million homes, affecting about 30 million people, killing above 1,000.

The floods have washed away hundreds of roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

According to the Nigerian leader, Pakistan and its population are in the thoughts and prayers of Nigerians as they confront this humanitarian disaster of epic proportions.

He appealed to the United Nations and other Aid Agencies to take urgent steps to assist people without shelter and food as well as the millions who required urgent humanitarian relief.

As Buhari Urges The World To Help Pakistan Tackle Flooding, Gov Bagudu Wants Nigerians To Repent To Stem Insurgency

Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has urged Nigerians to repent and intensify prayers to end the lingering insecurity bedevelling the nation.

Bagudu made the appeal at a Walima (Dinner) organised to celebrate “Kebbi @ 31”, held at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Walima, which was organised by the Kebbi State Government, drew Ulamas (Islamic clerics) from different Islamic sects to preach and offer special prayers for restoration of peace across Nigeria.

Bagudu, who was represented by Alhaji Babale Umar-Yauri, the Secretary to Kebbi State Government (SSG), said the state decided to celebrate the 31st anniversary in a different way.

“We decided to invite Ulamas to preach to us, remind us about Almighty God and pray for peace to reign across Nigeria,” he said.

The governor lamented that banditry, rape and kidnapping were alien vices infiltrated into Nigeria, assuring that with prayers, they will soon be a thing of the past.
