Atiku Damns Wike, Appoints Rivers Governor’s Critic, Secondus Special Adviser

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has appointed former Senate President Bukola Saraki and six others including the immediate past national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus as Special Advisers in his presidential campaign team in a move that is bound to widen the gulf with his rival, Nyesom Wike.

Abubakar said in a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr Paul Ibe in Abuja on Monday, that the appointments were aimed at strengthening the team.

“Saraki is appointed as Speci.al Envoy to the PDP presidential candidate, while Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim is appointed as Special Adviser.

“Others appointed as Special Advisers are Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau; former Gov. Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun and Sen. Ehigie Uzamere.

“Former PDP National Chairman, Mr Uche Secondus has also been appointed as a Technical Adviser to the presidential candidate, ” he said.

GWG reports that the appointment of Secondus into a high profile position is bound to upset Governor Nyesom Wike who has been in a tumble fight with Secondus, his erstwhile political compatriot in common struggles.

Wike was instrumental to the forced exit of Secondus as national chairman and the two have since then been in a state of political warfare. The appointment of Secondus is now expected to widen the gulf between Atiku and Wike.

Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar said that all the appointments took immediate effect.

He charged the appointees to use their vast political experiences in ensuring that the PDP presidential campaign recorded resounding success in the 2023 election.(NAN)
