My Husband, Shettima, Best For Nigerian Women – Remi Tinubu
The wife of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator representing Lagos Central, Remi Tinubu, has said the joint ticket of her husband, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Senator Kashim Shettima, offers the best hope of representation and empowerment for Nigerian women.
She said this on Monday in Abuja at the grassroots women’s election dialogue organised by the Asiwaju Women Cooperative Society (AWCS) in Abuja, Daily Trust reported.
Senator Tinubu was represented at the event by a delegation of women politicians, including Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Hon. Olubunmi Ogunola, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, Zainab Gamawa and Rinsola Abiola.
In the speech delivered on her behalf by Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Tinubu said elections could not be won without the support of women.
Meanwhile, the claim by Remi Tinubu that her husband and Shettima are best for Nigerian women came as the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria has advised Nigerians to vote competent and credible leaders in the 2023 general elections.
The group gave the advice in a communique issued at the end of its National Executive Council(NEC) meeting held at Bauchi.
The communique, signed by Mr Henry Yunkwap and Mr Godwin Gege, National President and Acting National Secretary-General respectively of the council, was issued on Monday in Jos.
The group advised Nigerians to set aside primordial sentiments and vote according to their conscience, adding that such move would ensure credible leadership in the country.
