Man Shoots 12- Year-Old Brother Dead While Testing Charm Potency

A man identified as Abubakar Abubakar has shot dead his 12-year-old younger brother, Yusuf Abubakar, in Kwara State.

The incident happened on Sunday in Dutse Dogo, Kaiama council of the state, while the brothers were allegedly testing the efficacy of a supposed gunshot protective charm they newly acquired.

The siblings’ father, Abubakar Abubakar, is a known hunter in the community.

Spokesperson of the state police command Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident.

Said Okasanmi: “This incident happened after fortifying themselves with the protective charm, the elder son brought his father’s Dane gun and shot his younger sibling, the charm failed and the 12-year-old younger brother, Yusuf Abubakar died on the spot.

“The culprit escaped into the bushes immediately the act was committed.

Recall that in June, gunmen shot dead a Lagos State-based businessman identified as Biola Osundiya who came to Kwara State to visit his family.

The incident, it was gathered, occurred around past 6:00pm on Wednesday when he was trailed to one of the drinking joints near the Kwara State Council for Art and Culture at Gerin Alimi area, Ilorin and shot him at close range.

A source who spoke on the issue said the deceased who was in his 40s was in the company of a girl who was having a conversation with some people on the phone regarding their location shortly before his assailants arrived.

“He was shot by two men who traced him to the spot on a motorbike and left him in the pool of his blood,” the source said.
