Champions League: Maccabi Haifa Beat Juventus, Chelsea Hit AC Milan
Juventus face a difficult task if they are to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League after suffering a shock loss away to Maccabi Haifa.
For Maccabi Haifa, the 2-0 defeat of Juventus was their first group stage victory in 20 years in the Champions League.
Omer Atzili scored twice in the first half to help the Israeli team finish third in Group H with two games remaining.
Pierre Cornud’s cross bounced off Atzili’s back and crept in, giving Atzili his first goal after only seven minutes.
The second saw Atzili fire a shot into the top corner after a bright run and pass by team-mate Frantzdy Pierrot.
For Maccabi Haifa, this was their first Champions League group-stage victory since a 3-0 triumph over Manchester United in October 2002.
Two-time European champions Juventus are also struggling domestically after a 2-0 loss to AC Milan on Saturday left them eighth in Serie A, 10 points behind leaders Napoli.
Meanwhile, Chelsea continued their revival when the English team beat Italian side AC Milan 2-0 in Milan.
GWG.NG reports that the win gives the new coach, Graham Potter a win of four out of five with one draw.
