UI, ABU, Announce Resumption From October 24
The University of Ibadan (UI) and the Ahmadu Bello University, ABu have announced the resumption of academic activities with both institutions saying they would reopen on Monday, October 24, 2022.
The announcement from UI was contained in a release by Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi, Registrar and Secretary to Council of the institution, on Wednesday in Ibadan.
According to her, the Senate of the institution at a special meeting held on Oct.17, 2022 approved Monday Oct. 24, 2022 as resumption date for the continuation of the 2021/2022 academic session.
“Consequently, Halls of Residence would be opened from Oct.23, 2022.
“On behalf of the Council and Senate of the University, we wish our students journey mercies as they return to the campus,” Faluyi said.
Besides, UI, ABU management has alsoscheduled resumption of academic activities for October 24.
The university’s Director of Public Affairs, Malam Auwal Umar, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Zaria.
He said that the resumption followed suspension of the eight months’ strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Umar said that the Senate of the university approved the resumption date at its 516th (Emergency) Meeting.
He said that the senate also approved the university’s revised academic calendar for 2021/2022 session.
He said that the calendar earlier approved by the senate at its 513th (Regular) Meeting held on Nov. 25, 2021, had to be revised due to the strike which was called off last week. (NAN)
