NNPP Accuses Abba Ganduje Of Using Kano Govt Vehicles For Campaign

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives (Dawakin Tofa, Rimingado and Tofa federal constituency), Abba Ganduje, of diverting government properties into his campaign.

The party chairman, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, said in a statement that it had been discovered that the state government had diverted over 30 vehicles from the Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) to the campaign activities of the APC candidate.

But reacting, KIRS said there was no truth in the statement by the NNPP, warning that they would take legal action to safeguard their hard-earned reputation.

A statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communication, KIRS, Alhaji Rabiu Saleh Rimingado, reaffirmed the statutory responsibility of the revenue service.

The NNPP alleged that the vehicles, emblazoned with Abba Ganduje’s image, were set to be distributed to the APC ward chairmen of Rimingado, Tofa and Dawakin Tofa Federal constituency to checkmate the incumbent, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, who distributed about 20 cars to his party members recently.

The statement further revealed that the said vehicles had been assembled at the temporary campus of Northwest University, Kano, awaiting distribution to supporters of Abba Ganduje.

The opposition party also faulted the deposition of the vehicles at a government institution (Yusuf Maitama Sule University’s city campus) as a violation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines for political campaigns.

“We, therefore, request the anti-graft agencies such as EFFC, ICPC and INEC to investigate mismanagement of state resources, conflict of interest and violations of election guidelines,” the NNPP  said.

Meanwhile, Abba Ganduje could not be reached for comment on the NNPP allegation as of the time of filing this report.  (Daily Trust)
