Court Drama Nnamdi Kanu

The Nigerian Federal government (FG) has lost its bid to transfer the case of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, from Umuahia to Abuja.

The Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, insisted on having jurisdiction to hear and decide the case.

Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s Special Counsel, revealed this in a tweet, emphasising that the matter was still ongoing.

“Breaking: Federal High Court, Umuahia denies the Federal Government’s application to transfer the ‘extraordinary rendition’ suit to Abuja, and rules that Umuahia has jurisdiction to hear and decide the suit,” he wrote. The remainder of the judgement is read.”

Kanu’s kidnapping and extraordinary rendition from Kenya was being challenged by the Special Counsel.

He is asking the court to order his return to Kenya, where he was abducted, or to the United Kingdom, where he currently resides.
