Orbih Prevails In Edo PDP As Oshiomhole Flaunts Oxford Certificate In INEC Final List
The Dan Orbih led mainstream of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State was in ecstatic mood on Thursday as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC listed its candidates in the final list of approved contestants for the 2023 General Election.
GWG.NG reports that the publication of the Orbih list was despite the recent court moves that the Governor Godwin Obaseki led section of the party had initiated.
Members of the Orbih tendency in the Edo PDP in the INEC final list include Omeregie Ogbiede-Ihama, the member of the House of Representatives who is famously remembered for stepping down for Obaseki in the 2020 governorship race. He is listed as the PDP https://gwg.ng/2022/10/27/stay-at-home-abuja-husband-drags-wife-to-court-for-not-disclosing-salary/candidate for Edo South. Also listed is former minister of works, Mike Onolememen, Edo Central and Pascal Ugbome, Edo North.
GWG.NG reports that the development is a big blow for Senator Francis Alimikhena who had been hoping to land a big position in the senate if re-elected.
Senator Alimikhena who has been elected twice to the Senate and was seeking an unprecedented third term had earlier been forced out of the contest in the APC primaries by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who is the candidate of the APC.
Among the qualifications flaunted by Oshiomhole is one from Ruskin College, affiliated to Oxford University.
A PDP stalwart remarking on the development in Edo State hailed the publication of the INEC list as the perfect birthday gift for Orbih whose 61st birthday is being marked on Thursday, October 27.
