Air Passengers Stranded At MM2 As Bi-Courtney Staff Go On Strike

Hundreds of passengers have been stranded at the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport (MM2) in Lagos following a strike action embarked upon by the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) over the sack of some of their members by the concessionaire, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited.

GWG.NG reports that 37 of the senior staff of the organisation were recently sacked by Bi-Courtney leading to the strike action that has crippled airlines using the facility for their local operations.

All flights into and out of the terminal were suspended on Tuesday morning, November 1, 2022 until further notice.

The protesting workers used barricades to block entry into the terminal a situation that impacted the operations of the airlines using the airport.

As a result passengers who thronged the usually busy MM2 terminal that is operated by Bi-Courtney to board the early morning flights were left stranded disappointed by the strike action.

GWG.NG reports that the terminal is the operational base of Ibom Air, Dana Air, Aero Contractors, among others with Air Peace also using it for some of their destinations.

The situation at MM2 adds to the traffic situation in Lagos that turned into a nightmare for pedestrians on Monday when commercial vehicles pulled their services away from the roads on account of alleged harassment by touts and government agents.
