Tems, Wizkid Win Awards At The American Music Awards, 2022 

Popular Nigerian artistes Wizkid and Tems have bagged an award each at the American Music Awards.

The event was held on the 21st of November, at the popular Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, with popular media personality and comedian Wayne Brady as the host.

The award ceremony which added its first category of “Favorite Afrobeats Artiste” to its list saw competitors like Wizkid, Fireboy DML, Burna Boy, Ckay, and Tems battling for the prize. However, Wizkid went home with the plaque.

Tems was also named the collective winner of the “Favourite Hip Hop Song” category for her part in Future’s “Wait For You” featuring Drake. The popular duo, Wizkid and Tems also won the category for “Favorite R&B Song” “Essence”, under Wizkids 2020 album “Made in Lagos”.

American artiste Taylor Swift was the biggest winner of the event as she won six awards including the “Artist of the Year”.
