Fire Destroys Shops In Onitsha Main Market
Some shops at the Kano Street, behind Main Market in Onitsha, Anambra State was on Monday morning razed by fire.
The Main Market is about the biggest market in West Africa.

It was gathered that the fire started at around 1am on Monday, and the men of the Anambra State Fire Service are on the ground battling to extinguish it.
Sources at the scene said that fire is currently raging in a section of the market in Onitsha.
A trader, whose identity was not ascertained, said so far, two blocks of shops have been razed.
He said the fire is said to be particularly in a section of the market known as Kano Street.
It was gathered that the fire started at around 1am on Monday, and has defied attempts by men of the Anambra State Fire Service to extinguish it.
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
The chief fire fighter in Anambra State, Martin Agbili, confirmed the incident, saying that he promptly deployed his men in the area when he was alerted.
He said, “The fire started around 1am, and I quickly deployed my men there.
“So far, they have gone to refill the fire trucks with water twice, and our men have gone to refill a third time.”
