Tinubu Vs Rufai: Oby Ezekwesili Leads Campaign Against Broadcaster’s Sack  

Former vice-president of the World Bank, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili has hailed the forthrightness of Arise News television anchor, Rufai Oseni and at the same time debunked the alleged intimidation on the television station by the Tinubu campaign to sack him on the basis of alleged antagonism.

GWG.ng reports that Rufai has especially been regarded for his probing questions and analysis on issues.

It came to fore on Monday that the Tinubu campaign had been piling pressure on Nduka Obaigbena, chairman of Arise News Television to sack Rufai Oseni. Responding as he started the Morning Show on Monday, 12 December 2022, Rufai Oseni said he has nothing against Tinubu and was only going along the line of duty. He also deprecated the hostility of the Tinubu Campaign against him which he said was even carried to the burial of his late father.

Responding to the development on Monday, Ezekwesili in comments on twitter criticised the alleged moves to sack Rufai Oseni by the Tinubu Campaign. She said:

Dele Alake & the Tinubu’s campaign writing to Arise TV to remove Rufai from The Morning Show is the height of ridiculousness & an indication of what their attitude will be towards independent media if you allow them into Aso Rock.

I’m proud to say Rufai Oseni mentored me in my radio broadcasting days. In one of his classes he made a qoute “I have a cancer called Radio and it is in it’s 4 stage”. This man right here is a well seasoned broadcaster and journalist.

However, the campaign by Ezekwesili in support of Rufai Oseni against the alleged moves by the Tinubu Camp to sack him was being met with strong denunciations by supporters of the APC presidential candidate.
