Tonto Dikeh Apologizes To Colleague Funke Akindele

Popular Nollywood actress turned politician Tonto Dikeh has apologised to her colleague Funke Akindele for her absence at the latter’s movie premiere Battle on Buka Street.

The film, directed by Funke, premiered in Lagos on Sunday, with celebrities like Iyabo Ojo, Sola Sobowale, Mercy Johnson, Ruth Kadiri, Nkem Owoh, Nkechi Blessing, Peter Okoye and Regina Chukwu gracing the event in their traditional attires.

Tonto who was invited to the premiere but could not attend, apologised to Funke in a Instagram post on Tuesday, saying that she cannot wait to see the movie on December 16.

She wrote: “Congratulations sis Sorry for not making it to the premiere of BATTLE ON BUKA STREET. My team couldn’t stop telling me how amazing the movie is and cant wait for our cinema date to go see the film!! Guys BATTLE ON BUKA STREET will start showing in cinemas nationwide from the 16 of December make show to see this movie!! Weldone Again Sis.”

Reacting in the comment section of the post, Funke wrote: “My sister. Thanks.”

Tonto was announced as the running mate of Rivers State governorship aspirant Tonte Ibraye under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a statement on Instagram on June 24.

During a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, the 36-year-old commended Funke Akindele and Banky W for their participation in politics.

She said: “it’s not easy for them being where they are and putting yourself out there to effect change because criticisms and so many things are involved. I believe in Funke, I believe in Banky. These two people… I can hold to something and say I believe that these people have a vision for the people.”
