Obasanjo Seeking Third Term Through Peter Obi – Uzamere, Atiku’s Aide

President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Peter Obi for the presidency is another move by him to get a third term in office, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, an aide of Atiku Abubakar has said.

Uzamere in a statement made available to GWG.ng queried the assumptions taken by Obasanjo in pushing Obi for the presidency saying that the move was aimed at getting a suppliant person to manipulate as president.

Dismissing the endorsement of Obi by President Obasanjo, Senator Uzamere who is a Special Adviser to Atiku, said:

1. One glaring truth he voiced is his veiled admission of being a godfather: *”In other words, he” (Peter) “has people who can pull his ears, if and when necessary.”* Nigerians definitely do not need a baby president to be controlled by the likes of Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo invariably wants to achieve 3rd term by proxy.

2. Obasanjo missed the point again when he said Datti Baba-Ahmed has *clean track record of achievement both in private and public life,* without telling the youths that Datti Baba-Ahmed was sacked from the Senate, by a Nigerian Court of competent jurisdiction, for election malpractice.

3. Obasanjo should tell the youths and Nigerians generally, what he wants a pliant Peter Obi to protect him from.

4. Nigerians have many questions for him. Questions on failed privatisation after he stripped Atiku Abubakar of executive powers. Questions on Odi and Zangon Kataf massacres. Questions on lop-sided appointments that Buhari raised a notch higher. Question on why he never used EFCC against any of his corrupt ministers but hounded Atiku Abubakar and his perceived supporters among then serving State Governors with EFCC and embarrassing prosecution outside our shores.

5. Obasanjo should have explained to the youths, who stopped him from ruling Nigeria in perpetuity. He should tell them that when the history of heroic intervention to maintain democracy in Nigeria is written, more than a page would be devoted to Atiku Abubakar’s positive contributions.

6. Obasanjo told the youths that age is not on Atiku Abubakar’s side considering rigours of presidency, but Obasanjo forgot to tell the youths that the nation would fare better with an older but prepared president than a pliant younger man that would be controlled by old hawks in the name of godfatherism. Olusegun Obasanjo cannot approbate and reprobate. In 2015, he endorsed a 73 year old Muhammadu Buhari against a 58 year old Goodluck Jonathan. When did Obasanjo suddenly become aware of advantage(s) of a younger president?

7. It is obvious that he has deep-seated hatred for Atiku Abubakar’s guts. He is yet to get over the fact that “a bloody civilian” stopped a General from having his way with 3rd term or more in office.

If Obasanjo were God, victory would not be for Atiku in the February election. But Obasanjo is not God. He is mere mortal who is scared of his shadow. With the much I know of Atiku, I can bet Obasanjo’s letter would not and should not faze him. Such a letter can only spur us on for more hard work. I believe God has ordained Atiku Abubakar for leadership. We shall overcome, and laugh last.
