Abou Hurairah, a notorious Boko Haram commander, has been killed after escaping several military assaults mounted against him.

He met his waterloo during a raid on his enclave in Marte Local Government Area, Borno State and was killed alongside several of his commanders.

Using Alpha planes from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) bombarded the target.

The Monguno region has recently been the scene of several attacks carried out by Hurairah and other Boko Haram terrorists.

Defense intelligence source: “He also coordinated strikes in Marte, Ngala, Kukawa, and Abadam.”

Hurairah passed away after more than 100 terrorists were killed in Bama LGA late last month.

The Air Component of OPHK carried out the mission at Mantari village, where it killed the sect’s leaders Khalid Tukur, Maimusari, and Bakura Jega.

Meanwhile, the news that Abou Hurairah had been killed came as the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno Council, Mr Dauda Iliya, has urged repentant Boko Haram terrorists to be ambassadors of peace as they are set to be reintegrated into the society.

Iliya gave the advice when he spoke to hundreds of Boko Haram insurgents, who have surrendered at their camps in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

The NUJ chairman also urged the repentant insurgents to seek both religious and western education for their spiritual and personal improvement even as he called them to be worthy ambassadors and promoters of peace in their communities.
