Police Free 15 Kidnapped Persons In Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has freed over 15 people who were kidnapped by bandits along the Gusau-Funtua road. The victims were abducted by the bandits on Tuesday and taken to a jungle.

Briefing reporters in the State, Muhammad Shehu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), revealed that after learning of the incident, the command mobilized a rescue operation and confidence-building patrol team to the region.

The PPRO claimed that following a lengthy gunfight, the bandits withdrew and escaped into the forest, leaving the hostages behind.

“The policemen in the operation team promptly raced into the jungle and retrieved 15 persons, consisting of seven women, six men, and two children,” the speaker continued.

The PPRO went on to say that the victims had received the taken for medical examination.

He gave the guarantee that the families of the victims will soon be reunited.

Meanwhile, besides the news that 15 persons kidnapped in Zamfara had been freed by the police, the Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has donated 1,000 bags of rice and corn flour to the Christian community in the state for the celebration of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Tuesday by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris.

“The food items which comprised 250 bags of rice and 750 bags of maize flour were handed over to the Christian community in the state by the State APC PCC Coordinator Sen. Kabiru Marafa.
