Tinubu’s ‘Slice Of Bread’ Stirs Storm After Enugu Rally
Controversy was brewing on Thursday morning as the words of the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at his Enugu campaign rally on Wednesday of offering officials of the party nothing but a soaked slice of bread if they fail to work well for his victory.
Though it appeared like a taunt especially directed to the national vice-chairman of the party, Southeast, Chief Emmanuel Eneukwu, tweeps were taking it as an issue that a possible President Tinubu would offer minions to the Southeast.
Some tweeter users were also peeved that Tinubu who spoke mostly from a prepared speech could not have uttered the words in other sections of the country.
GWG.ng reports that Tinubu after hailing Governor Hope Uzodimma for being the hope of Africa and Nigeria had in addressing Chief Eneukwu said:
When you have represented well, the national chairman of our party but nobody will give all of you any credit, you are working hard, you are sweating now, we want you to sweat well for this party until Bola Tinubu became the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will not give you but a slight clamp or a soaked slice of bread.
A report of the rally with a video clip was on Thursday morning engaging tweeps over the Tinubu comment of offer of a soaked slice of bread at Enugu. A Tinubu supporter, however, affirmed that the reference was not to the Igbo but to party officials in Enugu.
GWG.ng had earlier reported that what was a rapturous rally in Enugu was, however, marked by the boycott of some of the leading party stakeholders who after receiving Tinubu at the airport turned away from the rally. The stakeholders led by former Senate President Ken Nnamani were protesting what they claimed as the takeover of the party by strangers.
GWG.ng gathered reactions to the Tinubu offer of a slice of bread to Enugu APC stakeholders:
Mi Mi Great @MiriamAnchor
Tinubu, Igbos owns the bakery that’s my message to you, Igbos can never beg, go and listen to what Oni of Ife said about the wealthy and gifted tribe from the origin.
ke_Mhe @Mystery_Gurlll
The funny thing is igbos are probably sitting there and clapping. Lol.
Chinedumije @ChinedumijE_
If you are an Igbo person supporting this nonsense, you are a disgrace to Ala Igbo… The audacity for this man to come to our land and disrespect us.
Lanre Reactivated @Coolboy_Lanre
Tinubu was referring to APC members in Enugu! He told them to work & sweat for the party or they won’t get anything. He wasn’t throwing a dig at Igbos in any form! Put what he said into context! It was strictly a party affair… just like his “Emi lokan” rant in Abeokuta.

I can’t see light and choose darkness, Peter Obi is the light, I can’t see the right direction and choose wrong way, Peter Obi is leading us to the right direction.

He can’t try that Nonesense utterance in the North or other Southern states. Just because he feels the East will never give him any headway (Lost) in the bag for him already. Tinubu lacks respect for people and that’s one of d reasons prominent Yoruba people are distancing him.
Emeka Obi @EmekaObi_
Reading this tweet, you will see divided Nigeria is. Tinubu’s presidency will further divide Nigeria, but I thank God for giving Peter Obi victory. The Bible says the proud shall fall 10x.
