ABC Nwosu Dumps PDP, Over Failure To Uphold Rotation
In a major blow to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its 2023 presidential candidate, one of its leading members, Prof ABC Nwosu has dumped the party on the basis of the violation of its rotation policy.
Nwosu who was also a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, BoT served as political adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo and was minister of health in the same government. Though he has over the years withdrawn from active politicking on account of age, the 81 year old politician is reckoned with bearing an institutional memory of the PDP.
In the letter resigning from the PDP addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, Nwosu given his reason for resigning from the PDP said:
I hereby resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its Board of Trustees with effect from today THURSDAY 12th January, 2023.
2. This resignation for me is a matter of CONSCIENCE and PRINCIPLE because of the Party’s inability to adhere to the ROTATION provision in its PDP Constitution.
3. The journey to rotational presidency between the North and South of Nigeria has been a long and arduous one and I have been involved. Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must learn to keep to an agreement reached by a Constituent Assembly (1995) and enshrined in the Party’s (PDP) Constitution (1998)
Yours Truly
Prof A.B.C. Nwosu PhD (Lond) D.I.C.
Ex-Member PDP
