Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike has continued to sustain the threat never to campaign for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, ignoring him in the campaigns in Rivers State.

Wike, in his numerous outings at the venues where he inaugurated and commissioned projects, had continued to appeal to Rivers people to vote for only the PDP governorship and legislative candidates and ignored Atiku, the party’s presidential candidate.

The Governor said the PDP leaders at the grassroots especially the local government chairmen would reach the people later on the state’s choice of Presidential Candidate.

On Friday, Wike while kicking off the construction of Abua-Emoh-Iyak-Ighom-Elok and Emoh-Egbolom Access Road that held at Okpeden Town Junction in Abua/Odual Local Government Area, asked the people to only vote for the PDP governorship and legislative candidates.

He asked them to “guard their votes and deliver them all for candidates of the PDP contesting governorship, National Assembly and State House Of Assembly in Rivers State”.

He said: “We also expect that you will also reciprocate what we are doing for you. We have built schools,  which every other person may have done. But these roads, are very important to us.

“And I believe that by the time you vote for us in the governorship, the House of Assembly, the Senate and the House of Representatives elections, obviously, my successor have no choice but to link you up with bridges over rivers that separate some of your communities, so that all of you will be together,” Wike said as he ignored Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate.

The Governor told civil construction companies handling various projects for the state government to maximize the opportunity of the dry season to achieve commendable milestone.

Apart from the access road project, Wike had earlier kicked of  the  9.2km long Ekagho-Ogboloma-Adada Link Road in the Odual axis int area within the week

Wike said the two projects were important not only to the Abua/ Odual people, but also to the state government and that his administration would not entertain any excuse of delay in completing them.

He stressed that the road projects were being handled by the same indigenous contractor and called on the firm to ensure completion of the projects within schedule.

The Governor insisted that the two projects would be done without excuses adding that more money would be released to the contractor on Monday.

He said: “I don’t want the contractor to say today is gone, no. You must use the hours you have and continue to work as we flag off the project. So, don’t say today is gone, there is nothing that is gone.

“Every time must be utilised because we are now in dry season. Rivers is a place you don’t know when the rains will start. So, now we have sun, let us utilise it.”

Wike explained that just as his administration had stamped its feet to deliver the two road projects in the area, the Abua/Odual people should be politically  vigilant. (Nation)
