Storm Over Sowore’s ‘Picture’ Of Tinubu Sleeping At Peace Meeting

African Action Congress, AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore was stirring a storm on social media on Saturday after posting a picture of APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu supposedly sleeping at an event attended by the two of them.

Sowore’s picture was countered by video clips of the same event which showed Tinubu agile and conscious albeit for some time as against the claim by the AAC presidential candidate that Tinubu slept throughout the event.

The event was a meeting of presidential candidates and the National Peace Committee where the candidates and their parties were again recommitted to pursuing peace in the forthcoming election.

Sowore, 51, had posted a picture of Tinubu who is 70 years, saying:

The post inevitably drew sharp reactions with some hitting at Sowore for not respecting Yoruba culture of respect for elders.

To many others, the picture of Tinubu sleeping provoked sharp reactions as to the prospects of his physical and mental capacity should he be elected. Many Nigerians were reminding themselves of the trending video clip of President Paul Biya of Cameroon at the recent US-Africa summit where the Cameroonian leader appeared to be clearly out of his senses.
