Calamity Hits Delta APC As State Secretary Defects To PDP
Calamity hit the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC on Tuesday after the secretary of the party in the state, Otunba Nick Ovuakporie defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The defection was announced at the presidential campaign rally in Asaba.
Otunba Ovuakporie, a long-time associate of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was also a former aide of the Deputy Senate President before his transformation to State Secretary during the recent ward congresses.
Besides Ovuakporie, another former aide of Omo-Agege’s, Elder Omeni Sobotie emerged as the state chairman.
GWG.ng reports that following the congresses some tendencies in the party led by Olorogun Festus Keyamo had fumed over what they claimed as the appointment of Omo-Agege’s houseboys and house girls as party executives in the state.
The announcement of the defection of Ovuakporie was being received with shock in the APC on Tuesday and was also being celebrated in the PDP.
Among those celebrating on Tuesday was Sylvester Imonina, a former publicity secretary of the APC in Delta State who also defected to the PDP few months ago.
In an undisguised dig at Senator Omo-Agege on Tuesday afternoon, Imonina said:
“Make una help me tell the Napoleon is always right of APC that his political fiefdom is no more. Delta is PDP, PDP is Delta.”
