Hisbah Gives Decision On Woman Who Divorced Husband To Marry Daughter’s Boyfriend
The Hisbah board in Kano has given its decision on Malama Khadija Rano, who made the headlines after marrying her biological daughter’s former boyfriend after divorcing her husband.
The Hisbah in a statement on Tuesday issued in Kano by its Public Relations Officer of the Board, Alhaji Lawan Ibrahim, said it formed a committee to investigate the issue in the aftermath of the controversies stirred by the report of the marriage of the woman to her daughter’s former boyfriend.
The report of the Hisbah the statement disclosed that Khadija was divorced by her husband and had followed the three-month waiting period (iddah) prescribed by Islam before marrying the man whom her biological daughter had previously rejected.
The Hisbah Board as such dismissed allegations that she was seeing her current husband while married and instigated her husband to divorce her in order for her daughter’s suitor to marry her.
According to the statement, “presenting the report, chairman of the committee who doubles as Deputy Commander in charge of operations of the Board, Malam Hussain Ahmed, said the committee had found out that the marriage was legal and had fulfilled all the necessary criteria.
“The marriage is legal according to Islam, that was the reason Hisbah Commander in Rano Local Government Area supported and took part in the wedding rites.
The Commander General of the Board, Dr. Harun Ibn-Sina, as such commended the committee for discharging its responsibilities.
The Hisbah Board as such urged the general public should desist from spreading fake news and avoiding misconceptions on issues regarding Islam.
