Court Remands Bricklayer For Raping 15yr-Old Student
Ibrahim Ismaila, a 25-year-old bricklayer, has been placed in a detention facility by a magistrate court in Ilorin, Kwara State, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
The suspect was placed on remand together with Abdulrasheed Yusuf, his supervisor last Wednesday.
A police report states that Ismaila stopped the girl as she was leaving school and forced her inside an unfinished structure where he forcibly had sex with her.
When the case came up last Wednesday, the prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, asked the court to remand the defendant.
The prosecutor’s request was granted, and the Magistrate Mohammed Dasuki ruled that the defendant and his supervisor should be remanded. The hearing in the case was postponed to February 21, 2023.
Meanwhile, besides the news of the bricklayer raping the 15-year old girl, no fewer than 17 students sustained various degrees of injury and about nine female students were allegedly raped in the early hours of Friday when a gang of suspected armed robbers raided over thirty off-campus hostels housing students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK Awka.
The robbers who were said to number over 20, stormed Ifite Road Awka where the hostels are located shooting sporadically and robbing from room to room and hostel to hostel at about 12 .30 am Thursday night. The raid lasted for about three hours unchallenged.
