Police Probe Officer Who Allegedly Coerced Married Officer To Have Sex
The officer-in-charge of the Police Band Department in Zimbabwe, Chief Inspector Cuthbert Gwidi, is under investigation after being accused of coercing a married female employee into a sex act.
Gwidi is accused of threatening her with a bag while also forcing the 44-year-old band dancer to sleep with him since 2017. He is charged with ordering one of his associates to sexually assault the married woman.
The senior police officer is accused of luring the woman to a hotel room where she was raped by a council member from Victoria Falls only known as Nleya. When the woman reported the violence to her husband, he filed a police case at the Harare Central Police Station against the two.
The senior police officer is the subject of an investigation, according to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police’s spokeswoman.
The lifestyle tabloid H-Metro was informed by police sources familiar with the investigation of the sex probe against the senior officer.
In 2017, the woman was sexually assaulted in Gwidi’s office, and he vowed to keep her from being assigned to paid work if she came forward to make a report. The victim refused to back down and reported Gwidi to the authorities at the Police Complaints Desk, but in vain. In 2019, while they were contracted to perform at an event at a hotel in Victoria Falls, Councillor Nleya was alleged to have sexually assaulted her.
