New Naira Notes Saga: EFCC Impounds Nollywood Star, Simisola Gold’s Range Rover

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has commenced the grilling of Nollywood actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, popularly known as Simisola Gold over allegations of colluding with bank officials to sabotage the distribution of the new naira notes.

GWG.ng reports that Simisola Gold was arrested by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following intelligence report.

The 31-year-old was arrested after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned Naira notes at a party surfaced online.

In the viral video, Simisola Gold was also seen flaunting wads of the new Naira notes.

There are allegations that she got the new naira notes from some bank officials at the expense of the generality of the public and in violation of the extant regulations on the distribution of the new naira notes.

The ICPC had following her arrest tweeted thus:

“It is believed she is in collusion with key elements in the financial services sector diverting the newly released notes away from banking halls.”

The EFCC while confirming the grilling of Simisola Gold said that the agency received her from the ICPC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for further investigations.

The commission said that among items recovered from her at the point of arrest included a Range Rover and iPhone mobile devices.
