How Harry Kane Became Spurs All-time Highest Goalcorer
By Eze Dike
Tottenham Hotspur overcame Manchester City by a narrow 1-0 victory courtesy of Harry Kane’s 200th Premier League goal. The Englishman with that goal became Spurs all-time highest goalscorer with 267 goals, overcoming Tottenham legend Jimmy Greaves.
Pep Guardiola’s men have been winless in four consecutive games at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, but they were looking to end that run as they hoped to capitalise on Arsenal’s slip up to Everton, and cut the gap on top of the table to just two points. Tottenham got straight into the game and immediately took the lead in the 14th minute when they pounced on a defensive error, only for Harry Kane to slot in his 17th league goal of the season and make it 1-0.
City who have failed to score a single goal at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium were not looking like breaking that curse, as they failed to find any clear cut opportunity. Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan were introduced in the latter stages but their contributions were not enough as Antonio Conte’s men secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory to go four points of the top four.
