Supporters Mutter As Obi’s Plane Is Denied Landing Permit In Yobe
Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, was unable to meet with supporters in Yobe on Tuesday after the authorities denied his plane the permit to land at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, Damaturu.
Obi and his running mate, Dr Datti Baba Ahmed it was gathered were expected to visit the state for the presidential campaign, scheduled to hold at Summit Conference Hotel in Damaturu by 11am.
However, supporters and candidates of the party from across Yobe State waited to no avail at the at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu, for their arrival but Obi did not show up.
The development led to bad blood among the waiting party members and associates causing to audible muttering against the Labour Party presidential team members.
It took the intervention of the North East coordinator of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Hajiya Hauwa Bukar, to assuage the irate party members.
Addressing the supporters, she asked for forgiveness on the claim that the absence of Obi and Baba-Ahmed was not deliberate as she laid the blame on the failure to get landing permit for the Labour Party presidential plane to land. According to her the authorities did not issue the landing permit.
According to her the denial may be due to the fact that the Cargo Airport had not been officially opened by the federal government.
She reassured the supporters that Obi would come another day.
