Controversy Breaks Out Over Tinubu Branded Wine

The Chairman of APC-USA who is also the Chairman of the Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, Professor Adesegun Labinjo has disassociated himself and the authentic APC Diaspora chairmen and members from the so-called APC wines which were circulated in the social media. 

In a statement issued in New York, Professor Labinjo said that one Tunde Doherty was the brain behind the APC wines to discredit the APC presidential ticket of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima, and the character of President Mohammed Buhari. Professor Labinjo alleged that Tunde Doherty and his discredited group including Steve Tella, Elas Abone, Lawal Ayoola, Tai Balofin, Philip Ideawor and others are working against the election of Asiwaju Tinubu as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Professor Labinjo said that there has been allegation that Tunde Doherty and his group are being used by enemies of Asiwaju Tinubu to discredit the candidate in the North. “These characters know that alcohol is resented in the Northern part of the country, hence they knowingly planned these APC labeled wines to discredit and defame Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima in the eyes and in the estimation of the voters especially in the Northern part of Nigeria”. Professor Labinjo said that President Buhari, Asiwaju Tinubu and Senator Shettima are good moslems who do not subscribe to alcohol use and abuse. “President Buhari is very sensitive to the hardships Nigerians are facing and he is doing his best to deliver better lives for them”. Professor Labinjo said that Asiwaju Tinubu and Senator Shettima will work hard for NIgerian people and deliver on their promises of renewed hope in terms of good economy, improved security, and reforming the government to reduce corruption to the barest minimum.

Professor Labinjo called on the APC Secretariat in Abuja to immediately disclaim these political miscreants and rats from using the name of the APC and the name of APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (APC-CDC) to cause further harm to our presidential ticket and to the party. Professor Labinjo warned the public against scammers and rats who are parading themselves as APC chairmen in the Diaspora. Professor Labinjo said that Mr. Tunde Doherty is not the Chairman of APC-UK nor is he the Chairman of APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen. The interim Chairman of APC-UK, recognized by APC Secretariat in Abuja, is Barrister Joseph K. Adebola. Professor Labinjo also said that one Elas Abone, one Tai Balofin and one Lawal Ayoola are not even members of APC at any level. He said that one Tai Balofin, at every election season, would form bogus support group purporting to support a candidate for his pecuniary interest. He further said that Mr. Elas Abone is a Peter Obi supporter and Mr. Lawal Ayoola is currently a candidate of PRP for the House of Representatives in Lagos State. Professor Labinjo said that these are among the people behind the so-called APC wines allegedly sponsored by APCCDC. “These people are not representing APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen or their respective Diaspora APC chapters. They are working for the enemies of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discredit him and Senator Shettima among the voters”, Professor Labinjo stated.

Professor Labinjo urged Nigerians to disregard the APC labeled wines as nonsense from Tinubu’s enemies to distract and discredit him and the APC before the presidential election. He urged Nigerians to troop out in their large numbers to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima on Saturday February 25th as the President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
