Ebeano Supermarket Reacts As Actress Mary Njoku Claims To Find Cockroach In Oats
Nollywood actress and co-founder of iROKOtv, Mary Remmy Njoku, has taken to social media to share an experience she had with a pack of Quaker oats she claims she bought in popular supermarket chain, Ebeano in Lekki, Lagos.
In a post on her Instagram page, Mary shared a photo of a tiny cockroach she found in the oats, expressing gratitude to God for making her check before consuming the meal.
According to Mary, she purchased the oats from the Ebeano Supermarket in Phase One, Lekki. She went on to advise her followers to pour out the content of any dry food sachet and wait for a few minutes before consuming it. She also stated that she had seen a post online about spoiled yogurt and had since been careful to check every food item she consumes, even if it wasn’t expired.

The incident has raised concerns about food safety and quality control measures in supermarkets in Lagos, with many people calling for increased regulations and monitoring to prevent such occurrences in the future.
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for Ebeano Supermarket said the store had not received any formal complaint from Mary Remmy Njoku or any other customer regarding the issue of a cockroach in an oat pack bought from the store.
The spokesperson added that the supermarket takes food safety and quality control very seriously and has processes in place to ensure the products on its shelves are of the highest standard.
