Before The Rain Falls On Nigeria

Edo born poet, polemicist and politician, Senator Ehigie Uzamere in this piece reviews the decision ahead of Nigeria in the forthcoming General Election.

Before rainfall, the land is scorched by intense heat from the scathing sun. Leaves wither, trees are shorn of luxuriant green leaves, dust soars in the air with attendant allergies and breathlessness.

Today, our land is scorched because of heat from intense maladministration. The dust of hunger, despair, and hopelessness choke citizens of a country that ten years ago dared to rule Africa and talk in the comity of nations.

We breathe, but the breath is laboured, and trepidation swirls all around us. We watch in awe as our leaders dance a macabre dance. Flip-flops in policies leave us in despair. Infighting leaves us wondering how many “Mr. Presidents” we have. Orders and counter orders, leave us utterly confused.

Tantrums and litigation from within and among APC leaders, are daily occurrences. Things have fallen apart in a Party of unlike minds, and our centre can no longer hold hold. The APC has justified its primordial label as an incongruous *NGO.*

But we wait for that, which tomorrow will bring!

Tomorrow will bring rainfall in abundance as we have cried to our Maker to redeem our land from scorching. Atiku Abubakar beckons. He appeals to us to trust him. He would *RESET* our land through restructuring such that each zone can experience some level of autonomy and control her growth.

Atiku Abubakar appreciates what it means to be educated and to offer quality education. His policy on education would set our children on the path of self dignity, a curriculum that would point our children towards their inert abilities and capabilities.

Citizens of our country have never been as distrusting of one another, as in the past eight years. But Atiku Abubakar, the man who has touched lives and built bridges across the length and breadth of our country will unify us such that though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we shall live and together bring our nation back from the brinks. Our children and children’s children will grow in a nation where tribe, tongue, and religion will never be determining factors for meaningful living.

Atiku Abubakar’s covenant with Nigerians is one that recognises that we can only thrive as a nation in an atmosphere of peace and security. He would not make it overtly public how he would deal with insurgency and restiveness, but suffice it to say that a qualitatively educated youth population will reduce idleness.

Atiku Abubakar, who is a successful business entrepreneur, knows what it means to grow an enterprise and keep it afloat. Nigeria’s economy will grow and boom again under a man that is tested in the business of growing business.

Atiku Abubakar is the impending rainfall that will water positive growth for our nation. Give him your vote on the 25th of February and watch God RESET and RESCUE our nation using Atiku Abubakar. The new Nigeria we yearn is possible with *Atiku Abubakar* on the saddle of leadership.

In God, I trust.
