Media Personality Gbemi Reacts As Dispatch Rider Steals Five Packs Of Food From Order
Popular media personality, Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi, recently took to social media to react to an incident in which five packs of food were stolen from a customer’s order.
The customer had ordered 45 packs of lunch from a food vendor, who had carefully packaged the food in paper bags and stapled them together.
However, upon delivery by the vendor’s driver, Rida, it was discovered that five packs were missing, indicating that the dispatch rider had opened the bags and stolen the food.
Reacting to the incident, Gbemi expressed her disappointment and concern, noting that the situation was both sad and funny, but not in a humorous way.
She highlighted the fact that many people are currently experiencing hunger and food insecurity, which makes such incidents all the more disheartening. Her comments reflect the growing concern about food insecurity and poverty in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

The theft of food is not a new phenomenon, especially in countries where poverty and hunger are prevalent. According to the World Food Programme (WFP), an estimated 811 million people worldwide faced chronic hunger in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated this situation, with many people losing their jobs and livelihoods, and struggling to access food and basic necessities.
In Nigeria, recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that over 40% of the population is living in poverty, with many households struggling to afford adequate food.
The incident also highlights the importance of food safety and security measures for food vendors and delivery services. Food vendors and delivery drivers must ensure that food is carefully packaged and sealed to prevent contamination and theft.
They must also conduct thorough background checks on their employees to prevent incidents of theft and ensure customer satisfaction.
